[lyrics] Aimer – LAST STARDUST

Same drill as last time – there were lyrics pronounced one way but written in another, so the parentheses are just the kanji that were used in the lyrics booklet, which tend to have slightly different meanings from what was voiced only.

LAST STARDUST
(Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works insert song
and from the DAWN album)

Aimer

vocals: aimer | lyrics: aimerrhythm | composition: 飛内将大

under a fierce downpour of rain
at the end of the dream (the ideal vision) that I’d drawn
I kept on walking, my soaked shoulders shivering

until the gaps could be filled, my small, worn-out hands
gathered up the memories that had lost their color

affection, kindness – I’m fine with throwing it all away
as long as I’ve found what I lost

even if getting hurt is the way things have to be (fate)
my heart still gives off this hue
fly high into the distance, oh last stardust
dust to dust, ash to ash
may this fragment of a wish reach its destination

a receding, passing shower; a vanishing night wind
loneliness alone lingered at my side

the justice that I’ve chosen – it’s okay if it’s all a mistake
as long as I could protect what I believed in

this glass heart, riddled with scars, lights a passion I’d begun to forget
fly high into the distance, oh last stardust
dust to dust, earth to earth
may this fragment of a wish last forevermore
(for all of eternity)

(brave shine
stay the night
stay the night
brave shine
brave shine)

even if getting hurt is the way things have to be (fate)
my heart still gives off this hue
goodbye, Judas
may you turn to ash
dust to dust
begone, toward that weakness of mine from someday

this glass heart, riddled with scars, lights a passion I’d begun to forget
fly high into the distance, oh last stardust
dust to dust, ash to ash

may this fragment of a wish last forevermore
(for all of eternity)

[lyrics] Aimer – Brave Shine

How could I resist? (Time to be stuck in loop hell forever.)

Also, there are lots of those “pronounced one way but written another” kanji things in the lyrics, so I just put the written, non-pronounced way in parentheses.

Brave Shine
(Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works OP2)
Aimer

vocals: aimer | lyrics: aimerrhythm |
composition: 小山寿 | arrangement: 玉井健二・大西省吾

I had a dream (a vision) that wouldn’t end
while the wish hidden in my left hand stayed that way – a wish

an endless rain beat down on me
at a world’s end that no one knew
whereas all that was in my right hand was an empty memory

the strength to protect what I want to protect
the weakness that makes me stop believing in it
I’ll accept it all
and search for tomorrow (the future)

brave shine
if I reach out, then still
stay the night
a night where I’m covered in wounds
you save my life
the prayer full of these built-up thoughts
before a sword raised up high
transcends time

your brave shine…

when I’ve forgotten all that shines
Sirius will remain
I saw the light of a star that won’t go out

red trajectories that passed each other by
I aimlessly wandered this night that wouldn’t break
the way a child would, one that no one knew

the weakness that made me lose what can’t be lost
the brittleness that made me stop believing in anything
even if you can’t stand any more
what has been determined (fate) keeps moving on

break down
a night where the constellations hurt each other
and their chipped-off pieces keep falling
you’re breaking dawn
within these exchanged words (promises)
I draw close a certain dream (ideal)
that supported one person alone…

if I’m to protect what I want to protect
I’ll accept it all
and search for tomorrow (the future)

I’ll break forth the dawn

brave shine
if I reach out, then still
stay the night
a night where I’m covered in wounds
you save my life
the prayer that found the light
after all of these built-up tears
transcends time

my brave shine…

[anime/manga] Psycho-Pass Official Profiling: World Affairs

Oops, posted this to tumblr a while ago and forgot to crosspost here – sorry ;;;

Here’s some more translations and a few scans from the Psycho-Pass Official Profiling book! These are all from Phase 2: World Affairs, in the pages after the World Chronicle timeline – holos, geography/population, politics/law, diplomacy/the international stage, economy/industry, education, life/culture, medical care, and the Sibyl System.

There are also blatant reveals for season one, so…go away if you haven’t finished it yet. Seriously, go away.

(The sections I skipped for now were on the Dominators, cymatic scan, MWPSB stuff, memory extraction, etc, since they really don’t offer much that we don’t already know (aka, vague is the order of the day). …I only skimmed it a long time ago while focusing on the cymatic scan info, though, so maybe I’ll go back to it, just in case. …Some…day.)

[review] [anime/manga] Psycho-Pass: The Movie

(Oops, posted this a few days ago and was so excited about finishing that I forgot to crosspost, evidently. Too lazy to format the insane amount of words again (both posts combined are more than 13k…don’t look at me like that), so the links will take you to tumblr.)

I saw the Psycho-Pass movie in a jam-packed theater the Saturday night of opening weekend in Tokyo. (There were people of all ages and tons of women as well – again, PP is very popular.)

So here’s my review of the movie, along with some not really blatantly spoilery notes and a tiny bit of essaying. And I guess it includes my final thoughts on s2 which I’d never gotten to typing because I became so…ambivalent about it, in a bad way, after the last ep.

My ~7k-word summary of the movie is in another post here. Sorry for the wait.

Starting note – the movie made a lot of money over the weekend. Japanese fans’ reactions have been very, very positive. I think my opinions are opposite most people’s in the English fandom, but I thought the movie was worth it. (Because I had to take a layover to get to a theater that showed it, haha.)

In a nutshell, though, it was a good action movie. It’s more political than you’d think, and it had great moments and themes for certain characters. It brought back the human element and the human struggle of the series, which I hadn’t realized was so crucial until s2. Speaking of, it’s better than s2. Why couldn’t it have been s2?

[lyrics] EGOIST – Fallen

You all knew this post was coming.

Fallen
(Psycho-Pass 2 ED)
EGOIST

lyrics, composition, arrangement: ryo (supercell)

all is calm, all is bright
the whispering angel falls
and gently grazes on every last bit of you
it’s my guilty –

you notice
with your eyes wide open
pale blue concrete
ice-cold me
call my name and give me a kiss
and then hug me tight
with that shell of a body which you aren’t even in

the life that you’d spat out
still left something behind
I see a red-vivid eternity
which I’ll sing of next to you
what was I born for?
hey, love me
because I won’t let you go

hello mmmmmyyyyy name iiiiiiiisssss

a thirst that burns
sips at me without cure
these hands
dyed scarlet
sneer at me

before long
I won’t be able to hear, either
seeing the tears from your eyes
I’d silenced my breathing

call my name and give me a kiss
can you still return via the same path you’d taken
with that body which isn’t even fragrant with blood?

I’d smashed the peeled-off glass
swallowed it while it was still dripping down
I see a vivid eternity
which I’ll sing of next to you
what was I born for?
hey, will you say you’ll love me?

each time you call out to me
entrust your flesh and blood
to the instinct that answers in response
call my name and give me a kiss
and then hug me tight
with that shell of a body which you aren’t even in

love me until you shatter to pieces
the life that you’d spat out
still left something behind
I see a crimson-vivid eternity
which I’ll sing of next to you
hey, love me
until I’m satisfied
until all that I am comes apart at the seams

[review] [VN] Ken ga Kimi

My intention was to keep this place a translation blog, but………I think it’d be easier to put reviews here than on tumblr, so what the hell. Have a sort-of review of Ken ga Kimi (the otome game by Rejet revolving around six samurai bodyguards).

01_large

Overall I just – am so torn, hngh. I liked the Japanese aesthetic and the feel of the game – and of course, it was quite gorgeous – but playing this made me doubt all the veritably glowing reviews. Or feel like I have really bad taste. I was side-eyeing the writing pretty damn hard most of the time, especially in the kimi/”good” endings. The writers are just so fond of evil/deus ex machina that it was really disappointing, because I really wanted to love this game. And it was so pretty. But it wasn’t pretty or atmospheric enough to make me ignore all the writing issues.

Generally no full summaries in here, so it’s really detailed yet sporadic mumbling (that may not make sense if you haven’t played the game or read another review), my confusion at why my typically favorite char type isn’t my favorite here, and a fairly long section on Tsuzuramaru and his true end. I’m trying not to include the most spoilery cgs, but…obviously there are happy endings and death endings and stuff, so.

Also I originally wrote this as a list of bullet points for Tumblr, but then it got long and I’ve tried to edit it into a review review as much as I can. Apologies for the ensuing mess.
